WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CANDID OR POSED PHOTOGRAPHS?

Also called Traditional or Photojournalistic Photography

Posed photographic portraits are composed of people, background, and sometimes a foreground. This is sometimes referred to as Traditional Photography. This may sound time consuming but it only takes seconds with the right photographer managing your affair. The photographer will guide the subjects thought the day with specific instructions to accomplish the client's goals.

Candid Photography is created on the run so to speak. The photographer moves throughout the affair, with or with out you capturing all the events he can from start to finish. What gets created is a story-telling-sequence. It can in effect resemble a video in stills. This requires the photographer to be versatile in his skill as he must adapt for each moment. A lot of people photograph extremely well when they are unaware of the photographer and his camera.

With a photographer who is experienced in both formats of Candid and Posed Photography you are assured a pleasing balance of photographs to choose from.

OUTDOOR SETTING OR STUDIO?

WHICH IS BETTER....

Outdoor Photography is always an excellent choice. The use of lakes, parks, and scenic backdrops can only add to your photographs. Outdoor photos can be taken year round. A fresh snowfall or a setting sun can add magic to your results. You must be prepared for the unexpected however! Mother Nature!! You can not control weather conditions (such as rain, excessive wind, or extreme heat or cold). A good photographer always is prepared for such an event and will offer you other options in case of bad weather.

Studio Photography involves going to a specific location and employs props ( properties such as columns, pedestals, seats, and themed backdrops) and possibly more complicated lighting. Most studio photography will give a more formal look to your photographs. You are also assured that Mother Nature will not interrupt your day

DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE CAPTURED ON THAT DAY THAT DAY?

We almost always get told "I have specifics that need to be captured". Doesn't everybody? We need to know who, what and where. It's that simple! Perhaps great Uncle Tony and Aunt Hilda want a shot of themselves. Your sister-in-law would like a photo of her "darlings". Perhaps you would like table shots of all your guest. What about a big group shot? Can you take a photo of our rings? Oh and don't forget the cake! All these options and more are no sooner said than done.

BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY

D0 BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS ADD IMPACT TO AN IMAGE?

Black and White photographs when used with the correct setting can send a very strong impression. We can combine the surreal and romantic qualities of Infrared, and take advantage of your black and white images by printing on a sepia paper for an even more nostalgia look. We can use a warm yellow-red look to give the photograph an old feel. Sepia toning, art borders (see special effects section for more details) and hand tinting can be used on your black and whites as well.

SPECIAL EFFECTS

WHICH ONE IS GOOD FOR ME?

Special effects can be used in a variety of ways. They can range from filters that will soften an image. They can remove unwanted features. You can add a star effect to such items as lights, candles, candelabras, spotlights, etc. Filters can change the mood of a photograph by warming it up as in a sunset. Using multiple lights will add dept to the portraits.

As mentioned on the previous page we can use sepia toning, art borders, and hand tinting to enhance the final product. Art borders can be used to bring a smile to the person viewing the photograph, it can give a romantic edge to what would have otherwise been an average photo, or highlight the subject as a focal point.
